I am a firm believer in the world being too big to return to the same place twice. Okay, okay, I hear the outcries of the serial returnees, and I admit I do understand the appeal of knowing an area like the back of your hand, or upon finding somewhere you like, why bother with the trouble of looking for the next region to explore? But, bar visiting family and friends, or showing friends and family a place you love, I stand by my resolve to keep visiting new places. I'm talking about holidays here, as the further I travel the more I realise how much I love living in London.
And now i'm going to render the above paragraphs completely void as I tell you we are moving to Como ...
We're not. Don't panic Mum. But I wish we were. I have never been to such a peaceful place, it was just perfect. I've never been to a place that I would give up home for, but this was as close as I ever have.
Lake Como is in Lombardy and with an area of 56 square miles is third-largest lake in Italy, and at 1,300 feet deep, it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe. Our beautiful hotel was in Bellagio, which is the on the cape of the land mass that divides the lake in two. The view was whatever word is beyond beautiful.
What did we do today? We looked at that view of course.
We sat on our balcony and looked at the view, then we sat by the pool and looked at the view, then we went to our room and looked at the view, and then we ordered room service and watched the sun set ... over the view. Can you blame us?
