Our home from last night until tomorrow is La Parare in the village of Chateaueuf Villevielle in the Férion mountains.
When you meet us from the car with two ice cold beers you really have made friends for life, and that's exactly what Sidney and Karin did. We sat in their beautiful gardens, under an olive tree, surrounded by roses and listened to their story and the incredible place they were sharing with us.
The house itself was built in the 1600s and they have so lovingly and respectfully restored it to such a beautiful condition it felt quite a privilege to stay there. Our room is incredible, with a bath bigger than a double bed and everything you would need for a very comfortable stay. The pool is beautiful and so well integrated into the design you would think it had always been there.
After a lovely breakfast eaten in the shade of a fig tree, we headed to the beach in Cap Ferrat, driving through the town of Eze as we did so.
We lay on a double beach bed on Paloma beach all day and roasted. It was perfect.
That evening our hosts were throwing a BBQ so we and the other eight guests all met on the terrace, under the most phenomenal pink setting sun. English, American, Dutch, Norwegian and French, we enjoyed some local delicacies and then all sat around a hug table under the stars and feasted. Watermelon gazpacho was followed by different salads and meats with dressings that tasted of far off lands. It was all cooked to perfection and there was a table of very happy people. We sat near a lovely American couple whose very animated story telling of their lives in Pal Alto, California kept us laughing all night long, along with the owner Sidney who was one of those people you instantly like.
The evening was very surreal, a table of people from all over the world who would never have otherwise met, came together to share an incredible meal, a few bottles of wine and limoncello and laughed all night long. Then the garden started glittering with fireflies and my night was complete.
Another very special place we've found on this little journey of ours.
