This morning we had a long and lazy breakfast, which we are fast becoming accustomed to. It's almost extra-special time together because we so rarely get to share it. Today was just-squeezed orange juice, bread straight from the oven and home made jam. Washed down with strong, hot coffee, it was the perfect way to start our next day, which we spent exploring the town of Beaune in the hills of the Côte d'Or.
Here we were able to visit the historic Hospices de Beaune, a former charitable almshouse founded in 1442 by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, as a hospital for the poor. It was something straight out of Beauty and the Beast,
Driving back through vineyards as far as the eye can see will never get old. We're just enjoying a coffee and a cookie while I tap out this blog, and then we are going back into the main town for dinner.
Hope your Monday went well.
