Founded in 1118, Fortenay Abbey is the oldest monastery in France and a world heritage site. We spent a lovely few hours exploring it’s sun drenched gardens and appreciating the incredible architecture of it's time. Next we headed to Beaune, driving through miles and miles of vineyards, where we sampled one of the local wines before checking into a beautiful little family run B&B, in the nearby village of Pommard. Our room is beautiful, overlooks their vineyard and is less than a minute to the pool. Happy Jessica.
We headed back into Beaune after a few hours by the pool for an incredible meal, I know most of you will be bored of my food pictures from Instagram alone, so I won't go into too much detail, but I must say that Toasted Brioche with Salted Butter and Caramel ice cream has shot straight to the top of my all time favourite desserts.
With very contented bellies we bid you all goodnight.
PS - yes, it was noted that the car is in focus on the gallery photo and not yours truly ...
